Sanitizing Tips for Coolers
In order to maintain the quality of your water, you will need to ensure that water
dispensers are cleaned every four to six months.
-
Prepare a disinfecting solution by adding one tablespoon of household bleach
to a gallon of water or 4 oz of white vinegar to a quart of water. Never use soap,
cleaning fluid, steel wool or other abrasive material to clean the unit.
-
Make sure the water cooler is unplugged from the electrical outlet.
-
Drain the water from both the hot and cold tanks until the water does not come out
of the water cooler
-
Remove the empty bottle from the dispenser.
-
Use a soft sponge to scrub the interior surface of the water cooler reservoir with
the cleaning solution and let stand for at least two minutes, but no more than five
minutes.
-
Drain the cleaning solution through both faucets into a bucket or other receptacle.
-
Rinse the reservoir four times with clean tap or bottled water.
-
Remove the drip tray and wash with a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
-
Wash hands before handling a fresh bottle of water.
-
Clean the top of each new bottle before inserting on top of cooler.
